Menorahs
Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that is the Feast of Lights.
It is a commemoration of the miracle of the oil at the time when the Temple was to be rededicated and there was only a day's supply of oil that was to keep the Menorah or candelabrum burning at all times. Somehow, the oil miraculously lasted for eight days, the exact time it would take to prepare a fresh supply of oil for the Menorah.

The result of this eight day miracle was the declaration of a holiday, a holiday to commemorate the miracle of the oil. The Menorah has eight candles for each of the eight days of Hanukkah.
